Nanette D. Barragán, a U.S. Congress member representing California's 44th district since 2017, recently shared her views on several pressing issues through social media posts. Her comments focused on budget cuts to food assistance programs, the importance of healthcare accessibility, and the impact of climate change.

On February 21, 2025, Barragán expressed concern over proposed budget cuts by Republicans. She stated that "The Republican budget would cut $230 billion from food assistance programs like SNAP—hurting parents, seniors, & kids who rely on these benefits." She emphasized that no child in America should go hungry while tax breaks are given to billionaires and affirmed that House Democrats will oppose such measures.

Later that day, Barragán highlighted the role of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in ensuring healthcare for all. She remarked that "HHS must lead with science, integrity, and compassion—because health care is a right, not a privilege." She voiced support for Secretary Kennedy to maintain a commitment to accessible and quality healthcare.

On February 22, 2025, Barragán addressed the issue of climate change and its consequences. She noted that "Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent & severe due to the climate crisis." To combat this challenge, she reintroduced The Energy Resilient Communities Act alongside Rep. Yvette Clarke to invest in clean energy microgrids aimed at providing reliable power and creating jobs.
