Congressman Robert Garcia, representing California's 42nd District since 2023, has been vocal on social media about issues concerning air travel safety and political opposition. Born in Lima, Peru in 1977, Garcia is an alumnus of California State University, Long Beach.

On February 17, 2025, Congressman Garcia expressed concern over recent air travel incidents. He emphasized the need for investigation and oversight into these events while advocating against layoffs within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He stated: "Air travel has traditionally been the safest way to travel, but the number of crashes and incidents in the last weeks needs serious investigation and oversight. What we should not be doing is firing skilled FAA technicians and staff – we need to hire MORE of them."

In a follow-up post on February 19, 2025, he reiterated his stance on maintaining a robust workforce within aviation services by highlighting the significance of staffing levels. He commented: "400 technicians is a lot of people. Crazy to think it doesn’t matter."

On February 20, 2025, Garcia addressed interpretations of his previous remarks regarding political opposition as threats. Defending his right to critique governmental actions under the Trump Administration vigorously, he asserted: "No reasonable person would view my comments as a threat. We are living in a dangerous time, and elected members of Congress must have the right to forcefully oppose the Trump Administration. I will not be silenced."
