Nanette D. Barragán, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California's 44th district since 2017, has been vocal on social media regarding issues of privacy and healthcare. Her recent tweets express concerns over data privacy and proposed cuts to essential programs.

On February 17, 2025, Barragán tweeted about her concerns regarding Elon Musk and what she described as "data thieves" seeking personal IRS information from Americans. She criticized former President Donald Trump for his indifference towards this issue and noted that "@HouseDemocrats introduced a bill to protect your data - but House Republicans choose Musk over you and refuse to stand up for hardworking American…"

Later the same day, Barragán shared her experience meeting with community members in Carson who were upset about Elon Musk having access to their private information. She stated that these individuals also opposed "cuts to critical programs that put food on the table and give them access to healthcare."

On February 18, 2025, Barragán reported live with L.A. Care Health and Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson among others, standing against proposed Medicaid cuts by Donald Trump and Republicans. She emphasized the reliance of millions of Californians on Medicaid for care in her tweet: "HAPPENING NOW: I’m live with @LACareHealth, Long Beach Mayor @RexRichardsonlb, and others to stand up against Donald Trump & Republican’s proposed harmful cuts to Medicaid."
