Nanette D. Barragán, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 44th district since 2017, has been vocal on social media about various pressing issues. Through her tweets, she addresses topics ranging from immigration and education funding to gun liability.

On February 20, 2025, Barragán expressed her sorrow over the loss of Jocelynn Rojo Carranza, a child whose death she attributes to hatred and bullying normalized by adults. She stated: "Jocelynn Rojo Carranza should still be here. We lost this beautiful child because of hatred and bullying of immigrants normalized by adults. No child should ever feel this kind of despair. No family should have to endure this pain." She further criticized the influence of former President Trump in normalizing such behaviors.

In another tweet dated February 21, 2025, Barragán criticized House Republicans for proposing significant cuts to education funding: "House Republicans want to slash $330 BILLION from education. That means cuts to Pell Grants, student loan programs, Head Start, & even school meals." She thanked local educational authorities for their support in opposing these measures.

Later on February 21, 2025, Barragán aligned with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum's stance on the impact of U.S.-manufactured guns on violence in Mexico: "Agree with Mexico President @Claudiashein - cartels get their ability to inflict terror upon the people of Mexico because of U.S. guns." She advocated for holding U.S. gun sellers and manufacturers accountable.
