Nanette D. Barragán, a U.S. Congress member representing California's 44th district, has recently voiced her concerns on social media regarding several policy changes and budget proposals. Through a series of tweets, Barragán has criticized actions taken by the Trump administration and others that she believes negatively impact environmental enforcement, essential research funding, and fair economic policies.

On February 12, 2025, Barragán addressed the issue of environmental accountability in a tweet. She stated that "Polluters celebrate Trump’s moves to get rid of DOJ’s environmental enforcement division." She further expressed concern about reduced accountability for polluters and increased pollution in communities of color and low-income areas. In response, she mentioned a letter sent with Representative Yass Ansari and 39 colleagues to Attorney General Bondi demanding answers.

In another tweet dated February 13, 2025, Barragán highlighted the significance of NIH research achievements such as vaccines against hepatitis and HPV, Alzheimer's treatments, and fluoride discovery for tooth decay prevention. She stated "We won't stand by as Trump and unelected Elon Musk illegally cut essential NIH research." The tweet also referenced research conducted at Dominguez Hills.

Continuing her critique on February 14, 2025, Barragán commented on budget proposals under the Trump administration. She remarked that "If you’re a billionaire, tax cheat, or wealthy donor to Trump and his #RepublicanRipOff buddies - you’ll love this budget." Conversely, she argued that hardworking Americans seeking fair services would not benefit from these proposals.
