Nanette D. Barragán, currently representing California’s 44th district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, authored a series of tweets discussing legislation, personal advocacy, and environmental concerns. Through her social media platform, she expressed critiques and shared her commitment to various issues affecting American citizens.

On April 11, 2025, Barragán shared her views on the Republicans' SAVE Act. She argued that rather than reducing costs for Americans, the legislation "will prevent many Americans from voting, especially married women." Barragán highlighted a specific consequence for women: "If you are a woman who changed your name when you got married, then you will not be able to register to vote without" providing additional documentation.

In another tweet on the same day, Barragán acknowledged World Parkinson’s Day, reflecting on her personal connection to the disease as her father passed from Parkinson's when she was young. She expressed her dedication to raising awareness and supporting Americans who live with the condition, stating: "I’m proud to raise awareness and work in Congress to fight this disease" on behalf of patients and their families.

Addressing environmental concerns the night of April 11, Barragán criticized Lee Zeldin's environmental agenda, stating it aims to "protect and enrich polluters, let the American people suffer." She informed her followers about her collaborative efforts in Congress, joining "a total of 180 colleagues in calling out their harmful agenda" against such policies.

Nanette Barragán has a background rooted in California, where she was born in Los Angeles in 1976. Completing her education at the University of California, Los Angeles, she pursued a BA in 2000 and later earned a JD from the University of Southern California in 2005. Her tenure in Congress reflects her ongoing engagement with critical social, healthcare, and environmental issues impacting her constituents and the broader American populace.

Nanette Barragán is currently serving in the U.S. Congress, representing California’s 44th district. She replaced previous U.S Congress member Janice Hahn in 2017.
