Congressman Robert Garcia, who represents California’s 42nd District in the U.S. Congress, recently shared his critical views on former President Donald Trump's economic policies through a series of tweets. Garcia, who succeeded Ken Calvert in 2023, expressed his concerns regarding Trump's cabinet decisions, tariffs, and their impact on the American economy and workforce. Born in Lima, Peru, and now residing in Long Beach, Garcia graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

On April 3, 2025, Congressman Garcia tweeted about his discussion with Acosta regarding Trump's tariffs, stating, "When you have a cabinet full of billionaires like Donald Trump, you can dismiss how tariffs will raise prices for American workers."

On the following day, April 4, 2025, Garcia continued his critique of Trump's policies by questioning the outcomes of the so-called golden age under Trump’s administration, writing, "So, apparently Trump’s golden age included crashing the stock market and the largest tax hike in a generation. Is America great yet?"

On April 5, 2025, Garcia further commented on the economic impact of Trump's tariffs, highlighting them as significant tax increases and expressing frustration over the lack of opposition from Republicans in Congress. He stated, "Trump’s tariffs are the biggest tax increases the American people have seen in over 50 years. He’s crashing the economy and doesn’t care about the American worker. Republicans in Congress are cowardly for not speaking up. It’s insanity."
