CITY OF LAKEWOOD, LA: Mayor's Golf Challenge

Golf1

City of Lakewood, LA recently issued the  following announcement

The Lakewood Education Foundation (LEF) Golf Tournament regrettably has been canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there are still ways you can donate to help Lakewood students, as well as have a chance to win some great prizes.

LEF is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving educational opportunities for Lakewood students. LEF provides cash grants of up to $500 to teachers in Lakewood for special supplies and other tools that enhance the education of Lakewood children. All money is distributed in a manner that improves classroom activities; it does not supplant normal school district funding.

Special supplies and teaching tools are still important in this COVID era, and your contribution this year will still go a long way to improve the education of students in Lakewood. Even a nominal contribution greatly helps!

Mayor's Golf Challenge

To creatively encourage donations this year, Mayor Todd Rogers will play two rounds of golf with sponsor representatives in a four-player scramble format.

The public can also participate “virtually” in what is being called the “Mayor’s Golf Challenge” and pledge their support for LEF, as well as have a chance to win prizes! Here’s how:

Hole in One: 100 squares available for a donation of $25 each. Opportunity for one grand prize winner and eight additional prizes valued at a minimum of $50 each. Pledges for the Hole in One must be submitted by Nov. 12 at 12 p.m.

Pledge for Education: Support LEF and donate based on Todd’s and his golfers’ performance on the course. Please submit your pledge for other Mayor’s Golf Challenge support by Nov. 20.

You can pledge:

  • $10 for every birdie they make
  • $50 for every eagle
  • $500 for a hole-in-one
Specialty Raffle: Purchase a $5 ticket to enter a raffle for:

  • Propane Gas Grill
  • Chromebook
  • Portal Mini
  • Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus
The deadline to purchase specialty raffle tickets is Nov. 20 at 10 a.m.

To pledge, donate or purchase raffle tickets, go to www.lakewoodcity.org/mayorsgolfchallenge.

You can also make a donation to LEF directly at that web link without participating in the Mayor’s Golf Challenge.
