Congressman Robert Garcia, representing California's 42nd district since 2023, recently shared his views on issues affecting the transgender community through a series of tweets. Born in Lima, Peru in 1977 and currently residing in Long Beach, Garcia has been vocal about trans rights and related policies.

On November 20, 2024, Congressman Garcia emphasized the importance of recognizing transgender rights by stating: "On this Transgender Day of Remembrance, I want to make it crystal clear that trans rights are human rights."

Later that day, he criticized actions by House Republicans against the transgender community. He tweeted: "It’s disgusting and shameful that House Republicans are attacking the trans community and a new freshman member. We stand united against this hate and will push back."

On November 21, 2024, Congressman Garcia addressed concerns regarding a new bathroom policy at the Capitol implemented by Mike Johnson. He expressed his disapproval by saying: "Mike Johnson’s new bathroom policy at the Capitol is dehumanizing and cruel. This is not just about a new trans member. It’s about trans Capitol staff, visitors, and the message it sends to trans people across the country. Trans people are scared & angry. We must fight for them."
