City of Lakewood, CA recently issued the following announcement.
On Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot behind the Iacoboni Library, Lakewood residents can take advantage of easy drive-through paper-shredding services. Enter the parking lot behind Iacoboni Library off of Civic Center Way.
Lakewood residents may bring up to three bankers-style boxes (or large trash bags) of sensitive documents such as bank statements and tax records for free shredding on site. Proof of residency, such as a driver's license or utility bill, is required.
No CDs, DVDs, diskettes or other media can be accepted for shredding.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are not collecting household batteries or e-waste at this event, and no mulch will be available.
This is strictly a contact-free paper shredding event.
Please observe these important precautions:
- Do not attend if you have any COVID-19 symptoms, have been asked to quarantine or recently traveled internationally.
- Face coverings are mandatory for the driver and all passengers.
- Stay in your vehicle with windows closed.
- Be sure your bags or boxes of papers for shredding are in your unlocked trunk or pickup bed, and be prepared to leave the boxes or containers at the site. Staff will remove items from the trunk or pickup bed only; they will not open passenger doors or enter the vehicle cabin.
- Do NOT bring any batteries, e-waste, lightbulbs, household toxics, expired medications or sharps to this event. We cannot accept them.
