U.S. Congressman Robert Garcia, representing California’s 42nd district since 2023, has actively voiced concerns over a constitutional issue involving a deported individual. Known for his candid communication, Congressman Garcia took to social media to address this ongoing situation.

On April 21, 2025, Garcia posted about his presence in El Salvador, stating, "I’m in El Salvador because Trump is defying a 9-0 Supreme Court decision to bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia back home." He criticized the Trump Administration for acknowledging the wrongful deportation yet ignoring court rulings, emphasizing the need for continued pressure on this issue.

Later the same day, Garcia reiterated his stance, sharing that he was visiting with a congressional delegation. He expressed, "I am in El Salvador with a congressional delegation demanding the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia who is being illegally imprisoned in violation of a unanimous Supreme Court ruling." He labeled the situation a constitutional crisis and called for immediate action by the administration.

Following his return from the trip on April 22, 2025, Garcia provided an update, emphasizing the significance of adhering to judicial decisions. He declared, "We just returned from El Salvador and demanded that Donald Trump follow the 9-0 Supreme Court decision to return Kilmar home." The congressman reiterated the importance of upholding due process and constitutional rights.

Garcia, originally from Lima, Peru, has been consistent in advocating for legal and constitutional fidelity since he began his tenure in Congress, succeeding Ken Calvert in 2023. A Long Beach resident, Garcia is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach.
