Congressman Robert Garcia, who represents California's 42nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently expressed strong opinions on several national issues through a series of tweets. Garcia, originally from Lima, Peru, and currently residing in Long Beach, has been serving since 2023 after succeeding Ken Calvert.
On January 27, 2025, Congressman Garcia condemned immigration enforcement actions in sensitive locations such as schools and churches. He stated that "ICE raids in our public schools and churches is shameful and should be condemned and opposed."
The following day, January 28, 2025, Garcia criticized former President Donald Trump's decision to freeze federal grants. He warned that "Donald Trump’s federal grant freeze is dangerous, cruel, and causing chaos for cities, schools, and healthcare centers nationwide." He emphasized the impact on first responders, housing developments, and veteran programs.
Later on January 28th, Garcia addressed another pressing issue regarding Medicaid services across the United States. He highlighted his concerns by stating that "Medicaid portals are shutdown in all 50 states - this is outrageous and dangerous." He called for immediate action from the White House to reverse the order.
