Congressman Robert Garcia Calls for Dodgers Pride Night Boycott Following Divisive Action to Remove LGBTQ+ Group from Lineup

Washington D.C.- On May 18, Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) released the following statement in response to the divisive decision by the L.A. Dodgers to remove the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence from their annual Pride Night.

“At a time when the Dodgers should be embracing the strength of our diversity, they are instead trying to divide our LGBTQ+ community. Los Angeles is better than this cowardice and deserves better from the Dodgers. Our community should boycot this “pride night” and protest this decision. We’ll see if they choose to be on the right side of history.”

Congressman Robert Garcia is a career educator, who served two terms as the Mayor of Long Beach, California. He believes indefending our democracy, leveling the playing field with progressive education policy, addressing the climate crisis, supportingworking families with increasing wages, and fighting to expand and protect essential rights for women, immigrants, and the LGBTQI+ community.
