Calling all tabletop game lovers (board- and tile-based games, dice and card games) -- join us for monthly game nights at the Miller Room!
We'll have free-play game tables from 3:00-4:30PM for checkers and chess, backgammon, rummikub, mah jongg, or cards -- and from 4:30-6:00pm we'll play our featured board game of the month, NINE MEN'S MORRIS.
This is a strategy board game for two players, dating back to at least the Roman Empire as well as ancient Egypt (circa 1400 BC).
Nine Men's Morris reached greatest popularity in medieval England (referenced in Shakespeare's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM), and various forms of the game are still enjoyed across the world today.
The Miller Special Collections Room is on the first floor of the Billie Jean King Main Library, located at 200 W. Broadway (on the corner of Broadway & Pacific).
Library parking is available in the structure at Broadway & Chestnut Avenue. With library validation, parking is free for the first 30 minutes and $2.00 for 2 hours; daily maximum is $12.
