Congressman Robert Garcia, who represents California’s 42nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently voiced his concerns on social media regarding federal budget proposals and free speech issues.

On September 17, 2025, Garcia posted: “Trump’s proposed budget hurts working-class Americans. I will not support cuts to health care and billionaire tax breaks.”

The following day, on September 18, 2025, he commented on threats against the media: “We must condemn all political violence. But recent threats from this Administration are an attack on the media and the First Amendment. Late-night talk show hosts should be able to speak freely and give their opinions. The free press is under attack.”

Later that same day, Garcia reiterated his stance on constitutional rights by stating: “The right to free speech is sacred in this country. We must defend it at all costs.”

Garcia has served in Congress since 2023 after replacing Ken Calvert as representative of California’s 42nd district. He was born in Lima, Peru in 1977 and currently resides in Long Beach. Garcia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Long Beach.
