Congressman Robert Garcia, representing California’s 42nd district, addressed a range of political issues in a series of posts on October 14, 2025. The tweets focused on Republican actions during a government shutdown, health care costs, and international financial policy.
In a tweet posted at 13:13 UTC, Garcia wrote, “Trump and Republicans are trying to intimidate Democrats. They’ll fail. Read my op-ed in @MSNBC: https://t.co/0tJUjaMDqQ https://t.co/D3KzhlnSRs”.
Later that day at 16:15 UTC, he commented on economic concerns and U.S. foreign aid by stating, “Health care costs are about to SKYROCKET. And this week, members of the military may miss their paychecks. Yet, Trump is giving away $20 BILLION in taxpayer dollars to bail out Argentina while refusing to lower costs for hardworking Americans.”
By the evening at 22:56 UTC, Garcia criticized House Republicans for their absence during an ongoing government shutdown. He posted, “House Republicans are now on their THIRD WEEK of vacation during a government shutdown. Democrats are in D.C. demanding an end to the shutdown and a full release of the Epstein files. Release them, NOW.”
Garcia has served in Congress since 2023 after replacing Ken Calvert as the representative for California’s 42nd district. He was born in Lima, Peru in 1977 and currently resides in Long Beach. Garcia is an alumnus of California State University, Long Beach.
