Congressman Robert Garcia, who represents California’s 42nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to comment on issues related to free speech and government transparency.

On September 18, 2025, Garcia wrote: “One of our most fundamental rights as Americans is under attack. We must support the First Amendment and not allow Trump to silence dissent.”

Later that day, he posted: “When a government targets comedians, it’s not just comedy that’s under attack. It’s democracy.” This statement highlighted concerns about the broader implications of actions against public figures who use satire or humor as part of political discourse.

In another post from the same date, Garcia addressed Republican discussions about crime in Washington D.C., stating: “If Republicans want to talk about crime in DC, then let’s talk about the crime happening at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Release the Epstein files NOW.”

Garcia has served in Congress since 2023 and replaced former representative Ken Calvert. He was born in Lima, Peru in 1977 and currently resides in Long Beach. Before entering Congress, Garcia graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Long Beach.
