U.S. Representative Nanette D. Barragán, who has represented California’s 44th district since 2017, recently posted a series of updates on her official social media account covering topics ranging from internship opportunities to concerns over public safety and economic policy.
On July 18, 2025, Barragán announced the opening of applications for her office’s fall internship program: ” Now accepting applications for Fall 2025 Interns — apply by August 15th! Later that day, Barragán commented on national economic issues and criticized former President Trump and Republican lawmakers: “Costs are going up under Trump and Republicans. In another post addressing local law enforcement matters, Barragán expressed condolences following an incident involving police officers: “Our officers face uncertainty and danger everyday in their jobs to protect our communities. My prayers are with the families of the officers who were lost in the explosion, as well as with the Sheriff’s Department. https://t.co/nrrUEJlRyS” (July 18, 2025).
Barragán has served in Congress since replacing Janice Hahn in California’s 44th district in 2017. She was born in Los Angeles in 1976 and continues to reside there. Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from UCLA earned in 2000 and a JD from the University of Southern California obtained in 2005.
