U.S. Representative Nanette D. Barragán, who has represented California’s 44th district since 2017, recently shared updates on social media regarding local appointments, educational initiatives, and healthcare concerns.
On September 23, 2025, Barragán congratulated Lauren Sanchez on her new leadership role in a post stating: “Congratulations Lauren Sanchez (@lsanchez020) on your appointment as Chair of the California @AirResources Board! Your leadership and expertise will help address our air pollution & climate challenges. Look forward to working together to build a cleaner, healthier future for https://t.co/6mVuZcGSWg”.
The following day, September 24, Barragán called attention to an opportunity for students in her district by announcing: “Calling all middle and high school coders in the CA-44 District! The 2025 Congressional App Challenge is officially open. Show off your skills and develop an original app for a chance to win and be recognized by your Member of Congress. Get coding and submit your app by October https://t.co/6IhnVTiIYi”.
Addressing economic pressures facing Americans on September 25, Barragán wrote: “Life in America is too expensive — with cuts to Medicaid and the pending expiration of health care tax credits, it will soon cost even more. Today, I sat down with providers, clinic representatives, and health care leaders from MemorialCare, Long Beach Medical Center, https://t.co/6vDJZXRsyi”.
Barragán was born in Los Angeles in 1976 and continues to reside there. She earned her undergraduate degree from UCLA in 2000 before completing a JD at the University of Southern California in 2005. Her career has focused on representing constituents from California’s 44th District since she succeeded Janice Hahn.
