On October 8, Barragán posted, “Join us LIVE as Steering & Policy @HouseDemocrats hold a hearing on the Republican health care crisis and hear from hardworking Americans and experts how the higher costs and reduced access to care are harming their communities:” She invited followers to watch the event and listen to testimonies from both citizens and health care professionals.
Later that day, Barragán shared another update: “Watch us LIVE: @HouseDemocrats hold press conference on Republicans’ health care crisis and how health care premiums will double and triple for hardworking Americans:” The post emphasized the anticipated rise in premiums for many Americans.
In a third message posted on the same day, Barragán stated, “The truth is simple — Republicans want to rip health care away from 15 million Americans so they can give tax breaks to their billionaire donors. Steering & Policy @HouseDemocrats are holding a hearing today to hear from Americans and experts on how Republicans’ health care”
Barragán, born in Los Angeles in 1976 and a resident of the city, has a background in law with degrees from UCLA and the University of Southern California. She has been an advocate for health care access since joining Congress. Barragán replaced Janice Hahn in the House of Representatives in 2017.
Her recent statements come amid ongoing national debates about health care policy, insurance premiums, and legislative priorities between Democratic and Republican lawmakers.
