Nanette D. Barragán, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 44th district since 2017, used her social media platform on November 6, 2025, to highlight concerns about rising health care costs and federal nutrition assistance under Republican leadership.
In a post published at 01:24 UTC, Barragán wrote, “Working Americans like Lydia from #LongBeach can’t afford the Republican health care crisis. As a small business owner and single mom, her 2026 premium will cost her almost $1,200 more per year — that means she will have to cut back on her savings, household needs, and the https://t.co/LAf73QS8yK”.
Later that day at 13:57 UTC, she posted another message stating, “NOW LIVE: Trump and Republicans promised to lower costs, but instead, they are on the rise, and Americans are paying the price. @HouseDemocrats are holding a hearing today to hear from working Americans. View here:

At 19:30 UTC on the same day, Barragán commented on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits with the statement: “Donald Trump had to be forced kicking and screaming just to pay working Americans a portion of SNAP so that they don’t go hungry.
Americans work hard and live paycheck to paycheck — they should not have to skip meals just because Trump and Republicans don’t want to work with https://t.co/AQ1jA6LjB1“.
Barragán has been an active member of Congress since replacing Janice Hahn in 2017. She was born in Los Angeles in 1976 and currently resides there. Barragán holds a BA from UCLA (2000) and a JD from USC (2005).
