Nanette D. Barragán, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 44th district since 2017, has raised concerns about the rising costs of health care and its impact on Americans in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) dated October 18, 2025.
In one post from October 18, Barragán asked her followers, “What will Republicans’ health care crisis mean for you? Do you have a question on the skyrocketing costs of health care?
Join me on Thursday, October 23rd where we will answer your health care questions and listen to your stories on how these cuts will affect you and your loved”. She invited constituents to participate in an upcoming event aimed at addressing their concerns about recent changes to health care policy.
A similar message was posted in Spanish the same day: “¿Qué significa para usted la crisis de atención médica provocada por los republicanos? ¿Tiene preguntas sobre el aumento en los costos del cuidado de la salud?
Acompáñeme el jueves 23 de octubre responderá sus preguntas sobre el cuidado de la salud y escucharemos sus historias”.
Later that afternoon, Barragán reiterated her position regarding the affordability of health care: “No American should have to choose between spending hundreds of dollars at the doctor’s office or buying groceries for the month. Republicans created a health care crisis — and now MILLIONS of Americans are at risk.
@HouseDemocrats stand with the American people — we are ready”.
Barragán, who was born in Los Angeles in 1976 and continues to reside there, has represented California’s 44th District since succeeding Janice Hahn in Congress in 2017. She holds a BA from UCLA (2000) and a JD from USC (2005). Her recent social media activity highlights ongoing debates over national health care policy and its effects on everyday Americans.
