U.S. Representative Nanette D. Barragán, who has represented California’s 44th district since 2017, posted a series of statements on social media addressing recent legislative actions in the House of Representatives and her ongoing advocacy for both health care reform and conservation efforts.
On September 18, 2025, Barragán stated, “House Democrats step up, once again, to stop the Republican health care crisis. @HouseDemocrats have proposed legislation that cancels the cuts to health care, lowers the costs, and saves your health care. Legislation should work for the people, not against them.” She emphasized the role of House Democrats in proposing legislation aimed at reversing health care cuts and reducing costs.
Later that same day, Barragán highlighted a new resolution focused on public lands and Latino community involvement: “RESOLUTION ALERT My resolution to establish Latino Conservation Week spotlights the efforts of the Latino community to preserve our public spaces and reminds us of our shared duty to protect public lands and open spaces for future generations. Thank you to @HispanicAccess” The post underscored her commitment to environmental protection and recognition of Latino contributions.
On September 19, 2025, Barragán addressed her opposition to a Republican-backed spending bill: “I voted NO on House Republicans’ spending bill just now because the bill does nothing to solve the continuing health care crisis that Republicans created. This is a dirty bill that will continue to prevent millions of Americans from receiving the care they need. @HouseDemocrats”
Barragán was born in Los Angeles in 1976 and continues to reside there. She holds degrees from UCLA (BA) and USC (JD). Since taking office in 2017 after succeeding Janice Hahn, she has focused on issues related to health care access and environmental conservation.
