U.S. Congresswoman Nanette D. Barragán, who represents California’s 44th district, addressed health care policy, community events, and a religious observance in a series of tweets posted on October 2, 2025.
In her first tweet on the day, Barragán cited concerns about potential increases in health care costs if legislative action is not taken. She wrote, “Kaiser Family Foundation estimates now show health care premiums will MORE THAN DOUBLE if Republicans fail to extend health care tax credits that help Americans afford to see the doctor or get medicine they need. Instead of working with Democrats to fix the health care crisis” (October 2, 2025).
Later that afternoon, Barragán marked Yom Kippur with a message for those observing the holiday: “G’mar chatima tova! For everyone observing Yom Kippur, I wish you a meaningful fast and a peaceful day of reflection.” (October 2, 2025).
Barragán also promoted an upcoming employment event for constituents in her district. She announced: “Attention #CA44 job seekers — our annual jobs fair is only 2 DAYS AWAY! Join us this Friday, OCTOBER 3rd to connect with employers and hear about job opportunities across the district. Scan the QR code, visit https://t.co/JlSjk90KS8, or call 310-831-1799 to let us know you will” (October 2, 2025).
Barragán has served as U.S. Representative for California’s 44th District since replacing Janice Hahn in 2017. Born in Los Angeles in 1976 and currently residing there at age 46, she earned her undergraduate degree from UCLA and a law degree from USC.
