U.S. Representative Nanette D. Barragán, who has represented California’s 44th district in Congress since 2017, addressed concerns about rising health care premiums and invited constituents to a Tele-Town Hall to discuss the issue in a series of posts on October 20, 2025.
In her first post, Barragán highlighted increasing health care costs for Americans and criticized Republican lawmakers. On October 20, she wrote, “Hardworking Americans across the country are receiving notices that their health care premiums will cost a lot more next year — for some, premiums may double or even triple. Republicans would rather shut down the government, make public servants work without pay, and let”.
Later that day, Barragán extended greetings to those celebrating Diwali. She posted on October 20, “Wishing everyone who celebrates a happy Diwali! May the Festival of Lights bring peace, joy, and prosperity during this time to reflect on the victory of light over darkness.”
Barragán also invited her constituents to participate in an upcoming Tele-Town Hall focused on health care concerns. She posted on October 20, “Republicans’ health care crisis is putting millions of Americans at risk — do you have questions about what this means for you and your family? Join me and our guest, Covered California, for a Tele-Town Hall IN 3 DAYS on Thursday, October 23rd, where we will answer your health”.
Barragán, born in Los Angeles in 1976 and currently residing there, has a background in law, having earned her BA from UCLA in 2000 and her JD from the University of Southern California in 2005. She succeeded Janice Hahn in Congress and has served since 2017.
