Nanette D. Barragán, who has represented California’s 44th District in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently shared a series of statements on social media regarding health care legislation and transparency issues involving prominent figures. Barragán, a Los Angeles native and graduate of UCLA and USC Law School, continues to voice her positions on national policy matters.
On July 14, 2025, Barragán reflected on her recent visit to New Orleans as part of the House Democrats’ Steering & Policy Committee’s national tour. She wrote: “Great to be in New Orleans last week as @HouseDems Steering & Policy kicked off our national tour to expose Trump’s One Big, Ugly Law. This disastrous law rips health care from 17M Americans, hikes grocery & utility costs, and hits Louisiana especially hard. We’re fighting”.
The following day, July 15, 2025, Barragán commented on legislative actions related to Medicaid. She stated: “Two weeks ago: Votes with Republicans to cut Medicaid Today: Introduces a bill to stop Medicaid cuts”.
Later that same day, she raised concerns about transparency and accountability concerning high-profile investigations. Her post read: “Why do Republicans want to protect the wealthy and possible pedophiles? Release the Epstein files.”
Barragán was born in Los Angeles in 1976 and currently resides there. She succeeded Janice Hahn in Congress after earning her BA from UCLA in 2000 and her JD from USC in 2005.
