Nanette D. Barragán, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 44th district since 2017, addressed several national issues in a series of posts on her social media account between April 15 and April 16, 2026.
On April 15, Barragán commented on economic challenges and political leadership: “I can think of someone hardworking Americans would like to fire right now as they struggle with rising costs and an unpopular war of choice — and it’s NOT Jerome Powell.”
Later that day, coinciding with Tax Day, she criticized former President Trump and the Republican Party’s economic policies: “On Tax Day — another reminder that Trump and Republicans have NOT delivered for Americans. @HouseDemocrats want to deliver for you, so we’ll continue to fight to lower the high costs of the Trump and Republican economy.”
The following morning, Barragán recognized Arab American Heritage Month: “This April, we celebrate our Arab American communities and recognize the rich diversity and culture that has helped to shape our country. Happy Arab American Heritage Month!”
Barragán was born in Los Angeles in 1976 and continues to reside there. She earned her undergraduate degree from UCLA in 2000 before obtaining a law degree from the University of Southern California in 2005. Since replacing Janice Hahn in Congress nearly a decade ago, Barragán has represented one of California’s most diverse districts.
