Representative Nanette D. Barragán, who has represented California’s 44th district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently addressed several issues on her social media account, including the delayed swearing-in of Representative-Elect Adelita and rising health care premiums.
On October 9, 2025, Barragán wrote, “Representative-Elect @AdelitaForAZ was chosen by voters to represent Arizona’s 7th congressional district over two weeks ago, and Speaker Johnson refuses to swear her in. Adelita was elected overwhelmingly in a free and fair election. There is ZERO reason to make her https://t.co/1iX7v5VGLd”.
Later that day, Barragán commented on increasing health care costs, posting on October 9, 2025: “Americans across the country are receiving health care premium increase notices – many with increases that DOUBLE or TRIPLE their costs. @HouseDemocrats want Republicans to come to the table to find a bipartisan solution that reopens the government and protects affordable health https://t.co/Z3jmSiZsC2”.
She also recognized Brian Gutierrez for his advocacy during Hispanic Heritage Month on October 9, 2025: “Today we celebrate #SouthGate’s Brian Gutierrez for #HispanicHertiageMonth! Barragán, who was born in Los Angeles in 1976 and continues to reside there, has built her career around advocacy and public service. She holds a BA from UCLA and a JD from the University of Southern California.
