Congressman Robert Garcia, who represents California’s 42nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing concerns about Jeffrey Epstein’s associations and the ongoing government shutdown.

On September 29, 2025, Garcia questioned the relationships between several public figures and Jeffrey Epstein, writing: “Why were so many people including Donald Trump such good friends with Jeffrey Epstein? It’s time to get all the financial records and release all the files!”

The following day, Garcia acknowledged Annie Farmer, a Long Beach resident and survivor of Epstein’s abuse. On September 30, he stated: “Grateful to Annie Farmer, a Long Beach resident, and Epstein survivor for sharing her story. She was only 16. We must ensure justice for all the victims. Release the files now!”

Addressing current political events on October 1, Garcia criticized former President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans regarding the government shutdown. He wrote: “Trump has shut down the government and Republicans have fled Washington D.C. They want more tax breaks for their billionaire friends and couldn’t care less about healthcare costs going up. Hell NO to the Trump budget — and let’s lower costs for families.”

Garcia has represented California’s 42nd District since 2023 after succeeding Ken Calvert. Born in Lima, Peru in 1977, he is currently based in Long Beach—a city also home to Annie Farmer—and is an alumnus of California State University, Long Beach.
