Congressman Robert Garcia, who represents California’s 42nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media regarding free speech, healthcare policy, and political oversight.
On September 19, 2025, Garcia expressed concern over recent actions affecting freedom of speech. In his post he stated: “Freedom of speech and the First Amendment are the cornerstones of our country, and they are now under attack. It’s outrageous that Donald Trump is trying to silence dissent.
That’s why we are leading @OversightDems to investigate ABC, Sinclair, and the FCC.” (September 19, 2025)
Later that day, Garcia addressed the expiration of a key health care tax credit under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). He wrote: “The ACA tax credit is set to expire this month, putting health care for millions of Americans at risk.
Let’s be clear: the Affordable Care Act has been vital to keeping families safe and healthy. We must fight to extend it and ensure accessible health care for all.” (September 19, 2025)
In another post made on September 19th, Garcia discussed ongoing efforts by Democrats on the Oversight Committee. He stated: “Democrats on the Oversight Committee are aggressive: bringing the fight and demanding the truth.
The President of the United States won’t silence us.” (September 19, 2025)
Garcia has served as a member of Congress representing California’s 42nd District since replacing Ken Calvert in 2023. He was born in Lima, Peru in 1977 and currently resides in Long Beach. Prior to his congressional service, Garcia earned a BA from California State University, Long Beach.
