Congressman Robert Garcia, who represents California’s 42nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on July 15 and 16, 2025, addressing concerns about transparency related to high-profile files and highlighting the case of an individual detained abroad.

On July 15, Garcia wrote: “It’s becoming more clear that Donald Trump and his MAGA enablers are hiding something. And it’s big enough to force a complete reversal from Republicans to release the Epstein files. We need to release these files, immediately.”

Later that day, he drew attention to a case involving an individual reportedly imprisoned outside the United States: “Andry Romero has been wrongfully imprisoned in El Salvador for months after being deported with no due process. Free Andry Now.”

On July 16, Garcia commented on potential congressional oversight activity: “As the Ranking Member on @OversightDems, I would welcome this inquiry.”

Garcia was born in Lima, Peru in 1977 and has resided in Long Beach. He began serving as a member of Congress for California’s 42nd district in 2023 after replacing Ken Calvert. Garcia holds a BA from California State University, Long Beach.
