Congressman Robert Garcia, who represents California’s 42nd district in the U.S. Congress, has posted a series of messages on his official social media account addressing national political issues and marking a significant religious observance.
On October 1, 2025, Garcia criticized former President Donald Trump in relation to ongoing government shutdown negotiations. He wrote: “Donald Trump has betrayed the American people. He’s broken his promise to bring down the costs of groceries and healthcare. This shutdown fight is about demanding that he stop giving tax breaks to billionaires and lower healthcare costs for millions of Americans.”
The following day, on October 2, 2025, Garcia called for further investigation into claims involving members of the Trump administration and Jeffrey Epstein. In his post he stated: “The Oversight Committee must hear from Secretary Howard Lutnick. His claims are explosive. Oversight Democrats won’t stop this investigation until we get to the bottom of what members of the Trump administration know about Epstein and his crimes.”
Also on October 2, Garcia extended greetings for Yom Kippur: “Wishing everyone observing Yom Kippur a meaningful time for rest, healing, and reflection. This Jewish Holiday reminds us to always work to better ourselves. May today be peaceful and restful.”
Garcia began serving as a member of Congress representing California’s 42nd District in 2023 after replacing Ken Calvert. Born in Lima, Peru in 1977 and currently residing in Long Beach at age 45, Garcia is an alumnus of California State University, Long Beach.
