Congressman Robert Garcia, who represents California’s 42nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media addressing national politics and local infrastructure projects.
On September 24, 2025, Garcia praised television host Jimmy Kimmel for his recent public remarks, stating, “Jimmy Kimmel made the country proud. He stood up for free speech, called out Trump, and defended the First Amendment. Keep up the fight and don’t back down.”
Later that day, Garcia highlighted progress on a major infrastructure initiative in Long Beach. He wrote on September 24, 2025: “Long Beach just broke ground on the Studebaker Road Project, a completely new street from 2nd to Carson. Proud to support federal funding for this project and huge congrats to our city leaders and @LongBeachMayor for their work. We’ve been working on this since I was mayor.”
In another post dated September 25, 2025, Garcia criticized former President Donald Trump regarding government operations. He stated: “Donald Trump doesn’t want to work with Congress or protect services for our veterans. He WANTS a government shutdown so he can play King. It’s time for Mike Johnson to call Congress back into session.”
Garcia has served as the representative of California’s 42nd District since 2023 after succeeding Ken Calvert. Born in Lima, Peru in 1977 and currently residing in Long Beach, Garcia previously served as mayor of Long Beach before his election to Congress. He is an alumnus of California State University, Long Beach.
