Congressman Robert Garcia, who represents California’s 42nd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several national and international issues through a series of posts on his official social media account in October 2025.
On October 10, Garcia commented on developments in the Middle East, stating: “We should all welcome the hopeful news of a ceasefire and peace negotiations happening in Israel and Gaza. All the hostages must come home safely and we must end this horrific nightmare immediately. Israeli & Palestinian lives have the same value and all deserve a lasting peace.”
Later that day, Garcia criticized House Republicans for not attending congressional sessions amid looming healthcare concerns. He wrote on October 10: “The doors to the House Chamber were locked this week. Why? Because Republicans decided not to show up. Health care premiums are about to SKYROCKET, if Congress doesn’t act. Speaker Johnson needs to call the House back into session, so we can save the Affordable Care Act.”
On October 11, Garcia announced new efforts related to government oversight and accountability. He posted: “We’ve launched a whistleblower protection and tip line. And we encourage anyone who was illegally fired, or has information about wrongdoing or abuse of power by the Trump Administration, to contact us. @OversightDems are here to stop corruption and uncover the truth.”
Garcia has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after replacing Ken Calvert as representative for California’s 42nd district. Born in Lima, Peru in 1977, he currently resides in Long Beach and holds a BA from California State University, Long Beach.
