Congressman Robert Garcia, who represents California’s 42nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing national remembrance, immigration enforcement actions, and local infrastructure investments.
On September 11, 2025, Garcia marked the anniversary of the September 11 attacks by stating: “24 years ago, nearly 3,000 lives were lost in the 9/11 terror attacks on our country. Today, we stand with their families and honor the bravery of our first responders. Their sacrifices will never be forgotten.”
Three days later, on September 14, Garcia commented on recent immigration enforcement operations: “Workers continue to face inhumane ICE raids in our communities. They are targeting car washes, restaurants, and small businesses. No one wants dangerous criminals in our cities. But targeting working people with no record is heartless and is hurting our economy.”
Later that day he announced federal funding for airport improvements: “We’ve helped secure over $24 million to make upgrades to the Long Beach Airport. Expanded concourse and patios, new seating with chargers, new restrooms, and much more. We will keep fighting for our federal dollars to come home to airport and cities.”
Garcia has represented California’s 42nd District since replacing Ken Calvert in Congress in 2023. He was born in Lima, Peru in 1977 and currently resides in Long Beach. Garcia graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a BA.
