Congressman Robert Garcia, who represents California’s 42nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on July 30, 2025, addressing human rights and international issues.
In a post published at 15:51 UTC, Garcia stated: “I spoke with Andry Hernández Romero. He’s finally safe with family in Venezuela after Donald Trump sent him to a prison in El Salvador with no due process. What he said he experienced is horrifying, but he’s grateful to be alive. @OversightDems will fight for accountability.”
Later that day, at 17:24 UTC, Garcia highlighted his involvement with the Cambodian community in Long Beach. He wrote: “Long Beach has one of the largest Cambodian populations in the U.S. I joined our community to support a ceasefire of hostilities between Cambodia and Thailand. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced and many have lost their lives. We must have peace.”
At 20:02 UTC on the same day, Garcia addressed ongoing legal proceedings involving Ghislaine Maxwell. He stated: “Ghislaine Maxwell should not get blanket immunity and she will not get our questions ahead of time. She has committed horrific crimes and has lied under oath. It’s time to release all the files.”
Garcia was born in Lima, Peru in 1977 and currently resides in Long Beach. He graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a BA degree. Garcia began representing California’s 42nd District in Congress after succeeding Ken Calvert in 2023.
