Congressman Robert Garcia, who represents California’s 42nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on his official social media account addressing local investments and national political issues.
On May 7, 2026, Garcia announced support for community development in Downey: “Wonderful to present the City of Downey with more than $1.2 million for local projects to help their downtown keep growing and make Rio San Gabriel Park even better. These are going to continue to be huge assets for the community.”
Later that day, he addressed allegations involving Howard Lutnick and Jeffrey Epstein, stating: “Howard Lutnick tried to distance himself from Epstein by repeating a story that simply doesn’t line up with the facts. If a Cabinet Secretary lies to the American public, they should no longer serve in that position. Mr. Lutnick should resign or be fired.” This comment was made on May 7, 2026.
In another post dated May 7, 2026, Garcia commented on economic challenges in California: “Gas back home here in California is over $6 a gallon in some communities. And people can’t afford the rent or their groceries. And yet the President is focused on a ballroom and a war that’s costing us over $1 billion a day. It was never America First for him.”
Garcia has served as a member of Congress since replacing Ken Calvert in 2023 and currently resides in Long Beach after being born in Lima, Peru in 1977. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Long Beach.
